Compassion’s Foundation Joins Walmart’s Round-Up Program, Offering a New Way for Magnolia Residents to Support the Shelter

ree

Compassion’s Foundation, Inc. — one of the only domestic violence and sexual assault shelters serving Columbia, Lafayette, and Nevada counties — has been approved to participate in Walmart’s nonprofit Round-Up giving program. The partnership offers Magnolia residents an easy, no-cost way to help support the shelter during a year in which it did not receive federal funding.

By visiting the organization’s Walmart profile at:https://www.walmart.com/nonprofits/6d8586f9-5238-45ad-86f8-cae05beab27b/profile and selecting Compassion’s Foundation as their preferred charity, customers can choose to round up their total to the nearest dollar each time they place a Walmart mobile order. The spare change is then donated directly to the shelter.

For a community-based organization facing significant financial loss, the new program could make a meaningful impact.

“Losing our federal funding has made every single donation — even the smallest amounts — incredibly important,” said Executive Director Lacey Ogle. “When a community the size of Magnolia participates, spare change adds up quickly. A little truly can go a long way.”

The shelter’s annual operating budget is $219,578.08, and after grants are applied, the organization must still raise $127,318.74 through its Save Our Shelter campaign to remain open for one year. The Round-Up program offers a sustainable way for residents to contribute through everyday purchases.

Compassion’s Foundation encourages supporters to log into their Walmart account, select the shelter as their preferred nonprofit, and enable Round-Up on future mobile checkout orders. Once activated, the option appears automatically during online checkout.

“This partnership gives people an effortless way to help keep our doors open,” Ogle said. “These small amounts — pooled together — help us provide safety, shelter, and support for survivors who rely on us.”

More information about the shelter’s ongoing fundraising efforts, current budget needs, and services can be found on Compassion’s Foundation’s website.
