Lighting the Way for Survivors

This year, something truly extraordinary happened. When Compassion’s Foundation lost nearly $250,000 in critical federal funding, putting our shelter at risk of closing, the other nonprofits who had applied for the Crowell Lights donations—Abilities Unlimited, The Stew Pot, and Make-A-Wish Foundation—chose to step aside so that Compassion’s could be this year’s recipient.

Thanks to TETRA Technologies, who are matching the first $5,000 in donations, the Crowell Family, who are matching the next $5,000, and two anonymous donors generously matching a combined additional $5,000, every dollar up to $15,000 will be doubled — helping us continue serving survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Their selflessness, combined with the Crowell family’s generosity, is a powerful reminder of what community is all about: standing together so survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault never have to face the darkness alone.

Why This Matters

Compassion’s Foundation lost nearly $250,000 in federal funding, leaving our shelter at risk of closing its doors after more than 15 years of service. Without this funding, survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in our region could be left with nowhere safe to turn. Thanks to the generosity of TETRA Technologies (matching the first $5,000), the Crowell Family (matching the next $5,000), and two anonymous donors matching a combined additional $5,000, every donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $15,000, multiplying the impact for survivors in our community.

This partnership with Crowell Christmas Lights is more than just a holiday tradition—it’s a lifeline. Every donation given through this event directly helps us keep the lights on, pay our staff, provide safe shelter, and continue offering critical services like food, clothing, counseling, transportation, and legal advocacy.

Because of the Crowell family and the nonprofits who stepped aside in solidarity, we have hope. Together, we can keep safety, healing, and hope alive for survivors in our community.

Meet the Crowells

For years, the Crowell family has poured their time, creativity, and heart into transforming their home into a dazzling Christmas wonderland. What began as a family tradition has become one of Magnolia’s most cherished community events — a place where joy, hope, and generosity shine brightest. This year, their kindness goes even further by partnering with Compassion’s Foundation to support survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.

This campaign is possible because of the incredible generosity and heart of our community.

Laura & Senator Steve Crowell — for opening their hearts and making the Crowell Christmas Lights not only a holiday tradition but also a beacon of hope for survivors.

TETRA Technologies — for matching every donation up to $5,000.

The Crowell Family — for matching every donation from $5,001–$10,000, doubling the impact of every gift.

Two Anonymous Donors — for generously matching a combined additional $5,000 in gifts.

Abilities Unlimited, The Stew Pot, and Make-A-Wish — for selflessly stepping aside so Compassion’s could be the 2025 recipient, proving that true community means lifting one another up.

To every partner, volunteer, and donor: thank you for standing with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Together, we are creating light in the darkest of times.
